You can remember Azeroth and still need a fresh start
Perhaps you remember your first journey to a capital, a disastrous dungeon pull or the friend who always brought spare potions. You do not need to remember your old rotation. Begin with a class whose fantasy still appeals, make your buttons readable and give yourself permission to ask basic questions. Returning is easier when the first evening has a modest goal: learn your abilities, finish a local quest chain and enjoy being back.
What the beta actually offers
Blizzard’s published testing window runs through 21 October 2026. Access comes through selected opt-ins or eligible bundles; check your account and the Battle.net launcher for the Forever Beta entry. The initial cap was 20, with a rise to 30 planned. That opening schedule is not a guarantee that every announced feature is testable today. Follow current testing notices before planning a session. Treat progress as testing rather than a promise of launch progress.
Familiar foundations, new decisions
Forever is built around a lasting level 1–60 journey, with revised classes and additions to the world. Your memories can help you navigate, but an old talent build is a starting question rather than a finished answer. Read the actual tooltip before spending a point. Try a few ordinary fights, notice where you run out of resources and change one thing at a time. The useful question is whether you enjoy playing, not whether your character matches a twenty-year-old guide.
A comfortable first evening
Start by adjusting the camera, text size, sound and keybindings. Put your main attack, defensive ability and recovery items where you can find them without looking. Read a quest before leaving town, avoid pulling several enemies while relearning combat and stop somewhere sensible before logging out. If a dungeon sounds fun, tell the group you are returning and ask for a steady pace. A friendly group is worth more than an ambitious checklist.
Use the test to answer your own questions
Try the activities you hope to enjoy after launch: a little solo questing, a profession and a group if one is available. Record confusing objectives or reproducible bugs with the location, ability and steps involved. This article is preparation advice based on published information, rather than a personal beta playthrough. You can contribute useful feedback without being an expert.
