Learn what each activity adds
Cooking, Fishing and First Aid belong to the original-world secondary-skill tradition. They offer different sorts of value: preparing food, catching useful ingredients and making bandages. Forever revisits profession systems, so use current trainers and recipes for requirements rather than importing later-expansion rules. You can explore these skills gradually. A character who enjoys an evening fishing has not failed to level; they have chosen a different part of the adventure for that session.
Cook for something you will actually use
Inspect the food your current recipes make and choose a small batch that suits your character or party. Check its effect before assuming it gives the same benefit as a similarly named item in another version. Carry a working supply and avoid filling several slots with tiny leftovers. If you are preparing for a dungeon, ask what the group already has. Coordinated supplies are more helpful than five players independently making a large surplus of the same item.
Give fishing its own time budget
Before travelling to water, identify whether you are fishing for a particular ingredient, practising the skill or simply relaxing. Check the current skill, equipment and location requirements. If you need a specific catch, confirm that the place you have chosen can provide it rather than relying on the scenery. Use a short session for fishing when a dungeon would be unrealistic. Stop when the activity has served its purpose instead of turning a peaceful break into another compulsory target.
Use bandages with a clear plan
Read the bandage tooltip and learn when it can be used safely, including any interruption or reuse restriction shown in the game. Put useful supplies on a button you can find before an emergency. A bandage does not replace learning your defensive tools or responding to dangerous positioning. Decide how much cloth to reserve if you also practise Tailoring or Enchanting. Our cloth-crafting guide explains why every material should have a purpose.
Turn preparation into a shared pause
A group can use a planned break to check food, supplies and the next destination. Keep the routine brief enough that everyone remains happy to participate. Camping may give that pause a useful outdoor setting; begin with our first-camp article and check what your current camp actually offers. If you have limited time, the 30-minute session plan helps make a preparation evening feel complete rather than unfinished.
