A community-made WoW Forever addon

WowForeverFriendsFinder

Find NPC names fast and keep better track of the people you play with—all from one small in-game window.

What it does

A finder built around honest game data

NPC Finder

Search a catalog of 7,431 NPC names by partial name or ID. The addon learns precise locations as you encounter NPCs in the world.

Friends & guild

See which friends and guildmates are online and the zone reported by the game client.

Group positions

Party and raid members can show exact map coordinates when Blizzard’s API makes those coordinates available.

Simple window

Open it with a command, search in one place, and use the movable window without changing the rest of your interface.

Installation

Install in four steps

  1. Download WowForeverFriendsFinder 0.3.0.
  2. Extract the ZIP into your World of Warcraft/_forever_/Interface/AddOns/ folder.
  3. Confirm the extracted folder is named WowForeverFriendsFinder and contains WowForeverFriendsFinder.toc.
  4. Enable it in the AddOns list on the character screen, enter the game, then click the FF minimap button. If already logged in, type /reload.

Commands

Privacy & limitations

What the addon can—and cannot—know

The addon is client-only and contains no tracking or external communication. World of Warcraft limits location data for privacy and gameplay reasons: friends and guildmates normally expose their current zone, while exact live coordinates are generally available only for party or raid members. NPC locations are shown after the addon learns them during play; the included catalog supplies searchable names, not guaranteed live positions.

Beta note: the Lua source and release archive have been validated, but final compatibility testing must happen in the live WoW Forever client when access is available.
