Start with the route you already enjoy
Skinning can fit a character whose ordinary quests involve suitable beasts, while Leatherworking gives the gathered material a possible crafting destination. That makes the pair worth considering if you enjoy this kind of outdoor routine. It is less appealing if you dislike stopping after fights or your chosen route offers little useful material. Choose the profession around how you like to play, then inspect its current requirements and recipes before committing to a long shopping list.
Keep gathering from taking over the session
Loot what needs looting, follow the game’s ownership rules and be considerate when others are finishing their own kills. Watch your surroundings before beginning another skinning action near enemies. In a group, agree on a pace that allows gathering without leaving the rest of the party waiting indefinitely. If your bags are already full, a modest supply run may be more productive than collecting another stack you immediately have to discard.
Craft for the role, not just the armor label
Rogues, Druids, Hunters and Shamans may find different reasons to inspect Leatherworking, but their useful items will not be identical. Check the armor type, level requirement and the attributes that support your current role. A Druid experimenting with healing and a Druid fighting mainly in a physical form need to evaluate items differently. Do not spend heavily on a remembered recipe until you have checked the actual Forever version and compared it with your existing equipment.
Choose a small materials project
Pick one useful craft, identify the required leather and any extra components, then gather or buy only what is missing. Separate working stock from materials saved for a specific later item. If another player requests equipment, confirm what they can use and agree the costs before crafting. An upgrade for a friend is satisfying when it solves their problem, not merely when it uses up a pile of materials you wanted to clear.
Build around the practical limits
Check any workstation or special recipe requirements before travelling far from a town. Advanced crafts can require more planning than the opening patterns. Our camp teamwork article explains how to organize shared preparation without assuming every camp offers every service. Read class pairings for alternatives and crafting while levelling if you need a routine that leaves time for the rest of the game.
